Your wedding video is a keepsake you'll revisit for years—so it's vital to ask the right questions before booking. Here's a curated list of the top questions you should always ask—and why they matter.

1. Can we see examples of all the films you offer?

Why it matters: Viewing different kinds of samples—full-lengths, highlights, social media cuts—helps you understand their editing flow, tone, and versatility. You’ll know what to expect before committing.

2. How would you describe your style of filmmaking? (e.g., documentary, cinematic, storytelling)

Why it matters: Every videographer interprets “wedding film” differently. Whether you prefer a natural, candid documentary style or a polished, cinematic one, aligning on style ensures your vision shines through.

3. How long have you been filming weddings, and how many do you shoot per year?

Why it matters: Experience matters. Understanding their background gives insight into how skilled and reliable they are—especially under the pressure of a big-day timeline.

4. Will you be the one filming on our wedding day? If not, who will, and can we meet them beforehand?

Why it matters: Wedding videography is intensely personal—and it’s significantly more comforting knowing you’ll have direct rapport with the person behind the camera.

5. Have you filmed at our venue before?

Why it matters: Familiarity with lighting, layout, and acoustics allows for smoother coverage and better shot composition. If not, knowing they’re willing to scout it ahead of time is a positive sign.

6. What is your process for capturing sound during key moments like vows and speeches?

Why it matters: Beautiful visuals only go so far without clear audio. Knowing how they plan to capture audio—through microphones, soundboards, or room mics—ensures your vows and speeches are crystal-clear.

7. How do you choose and license music for your films?

Why it matters: Music sets the tone—and using licensed tracks avoids legal headaches. Clarify if you’ll have input and whether they source from reputable providers like Musicbed or Artlist.

8. What does your package include—and what’s not included?

Why it matters: “Hidden fees” are planners’ nightmares. Knowing what’s included—hours of coverage, drone footage, second shooter, deliverables—and what’s not prevents surprises later.

9. When and how will we receive the final video?

Why it matters: Editing takes time—and expectations for delivery can vary widely. Ask for a clear timeline and format (digital link, USB, DVD, etc.) to avoid waiting endlessly.

10. How do you collaborate with other vendors—especially our photographer?

Why it matters: A seamless visual team results in better coverage for you. Understanding how they coordinate—and whether they’ve worked with your photographer before—ensures a cohesive, stress-free day.
